Support for Military Days of Celebration and Awareness in August

As we embrace the month of August, the Office of Regional VI Commander, Irvin Lyons Jr., affirms its support for Military Days of Celebration and Awareness that honor the service, sacrifices, and contributions of our nation’s veterans, service members, and their families.

This month, we recognize and support observances including:

  • Coast Guard Birthday — August 4
  • Purple Heart Day — August 7
  • Department of Defense (DoD) Anniversary — August 10
  • Agent Orange Awareness Day — August 10
  • Navaho Code Talkers Day — August 14
  • National Airborne Day — August 16
  • Marine Forces Reserve Birthday — August 29

We encourage team members and partners across our region to participate in appropriate recognitions and to reflect on the importance of continued veterans awareness, remembrance, and support for those who have served.

Respectfully,
Office of Regional VI Commander

Check on a veteran, we are our brothers and sisters keeper.  Wellness checks are encouraged as we stay connected with all veterans.  Our veterans are in need of your assistance in their mental health and well-being, reach out to one or a few and take a moment to listen to them (you may never know how important this is in reference to every veteran).
